In the Hoqqabaz Cafe project, the entrance was conceived as a threshold that transitions from the street into an interior courtyard. A red arched awning and black metal framing act as the cafe’s signage on the street. Dense ivy walls on either side of the entrance separate the space from street noise. Inside the courtyard, a wooden bar, metal table sets, and stretched fabric shade canopies overhead are used together. Strings of hanging bulbs and dried-branch arrangements define the atmosphere for evening use.
